Ana Paula is passionate about birds, plants, working outdoors, and getting her hands dirt. She moved with her husband from Brazil to Canada as Permanent Resident in 2019, and is now a proud Canadian citizen. After many years working inside offices, she decided to make a career change and followed her dream of becoming an expert gardener. Ana Paula graduated as Horticulture Technician at Fanshawe College in 2023, earned the President’s Honour Roll award for her academic achievements, and has been working in the landscape industry since 2022.
“Azure” Jay?

The Azure Jay (Cyanocorax caeruleus) is a beautiful bird belonging to the Corvidae family, the same family as the Blue Jay (Cyanocitta cristata). This intelligent bird is native to southern Brazil, particularly found in the state of Paraná (where Ana Paula was born and raised), where it thrives in the lush Atlantic Forest. The Azure Jay is the official state bird of Paraná, symbolizing the state’s rich biodiversity, and it plays a key role in the ecosystem by feeding on Araucaria pine nuts (Araucaria angustifolia), helping disperse seeds.
